SANTOSSE

It was in this valley, caught between Ivry-en-Montagne to the north and Aubigny-la-Ronce, which was to become Santosse, that Julius Caesar waged one of his Gallic Wars. Its wine production flourished in the 17th century, during which, say the historians, its vineyards, the most prized in the region, sold for twice as much per hectare as those of Meursault.
